Here are examples of some of the products that we see in customer complaints, in addition to traditional investments such as stocks. This list is not exhaustive. And we can be sure to see new, esoteric securities created by Wall Street on a regular basis. While the products listed below are usually not intrinsically flawed, too often they are sold in an improper or deceptive manner. Spotting problems with these products can be challenging due to their complexity. And in some instances, various products such as some private placements or viaticals may also be scams that should not be recommended to any investor.
