Options
Options are derivative securities that basically give one the right to buy or sell an underlying security at a certain price within a fixed time. These highly complex securities can be appropriate for some sophisticated investors, and if so, the financial professional must exercise care to ensure that he only recommends options within the parameters that are suitable for the client. Many investors are unsuited for most levels of options trading, as the securities can be extremely volatile and they carry risk of significant loss.
